The anesthesia department in our hospital plays a crucial role in patient care, particularly during surgical procedures. Their key responsibilities include:

Preoperative Care

  • Patient Evaluation: Assessing patients’ medical histories, current health status, and any potential risks associated with anesthesia.
  • Anesthesia Planning: Developing a tailored anesthesia plan for each patient, considering factors like the type of surgery, patient health, and any allergies or conditions

Intraoperative Care

  • Administering Anesthesia: Providing general, regional, or local anesthesia to ensure patients do not feel pain during surgery.
  • Monitoring Vital Signs: Continuously monitoring patients’ heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and other vital signs to ensure stability during the procedure.
  • Managing Anesthesia Levels: Adjusting anesthesia levels as needed to maintain the appropriate depth of anesthesia throughout the surgery.

Postoperative Care

  • Recovery Monitoring: Overseeing patients as they wake up from anesthesia, ensuring they regain consciousness safely and managing any immediate postoperative pain.
  • Pain Management: Providing pain relief and managing any complications related to anesthesia, such as nausea or respiratory issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Critical Care: Assisting in critical care units, managing pain relief, and providing support in emergency situations.
  • Education and Training: Training medical staff and educating patients and their families about anesthesia and pain management.

The anesthesia department ensures that patients undergo surgery safely and comfortably, playing a vital role in the overall surgical process.
